BioStar 2 supports two types of access control architecture in one platform. A centralised model uses a CoreStation controller with lightweight readers at each door, ideal for large buildings with structured cabling. A distributed model puts intelligence at each reader, providing resilience without a central controller — suited for remote sites or organisations with existing infrastructure.
